The Emps Parent Companion App — Privacy Policy

Who this app is for

This app is designed for use by parents and guardians. Any information about a child — their name, age, notes, or photo — is entered by the parent/guardian who creates that profile, not collected directly from the child.

What we collect

Your account: name, email address, and password (or, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile details Google shares with us). We also keep a record of sign-in sessions for security purposes.

Family profiles you create: name, age, an optional photo, and any notes you add for each family member profile.

Emp Tracker entries: the emotion logged, the date/time, and any notes you add, linked to the profile you're tracking for. We also work out simple patterns from this (e.g. most common emotion, time-of-day trends) to show you inside the app.

App activity: which resources or Emps a profile has favourited, and daily login activity, so we can show streaks and progress.

If you subscribe to Premium: your subscription status and purchase history, shared with us by the App Store or Google Play via our subscription provider, RevenueCat.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your location, and we don't use any advertising or analytics trackers. The "Photo with an Emp!" sticker photos stay on your device (or are saved to your camera roll) — they are never sent to our servers.

How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored in a Postgres database provided by Neon (operated by Databricks), hosted in London (UK) via AWS. Neon encrypts data at rest and requires encrypted connections for all data in transit, and holds SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications. Our backend service runs on Railway.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers who help us run the app: Neon/Databricks (database hosting), Railway (backend hosting), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google. Apple or Google process your actual payment if you subscribe — we never see your card details. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Deleting a family profile in the app permanently deletes that profile's notes, photo, tracker entries, and favourites. You can delete your account entirely, or ask us to delete your data, by contacting us below.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete the information you've given us at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at info@the-emps.com.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. All child-related information is provided and controlled by a parent or guardian.

Changes to this notice

We'll update this notice if how we handle your data changes, and update the date at the top.
