Welcome to the wonderful world of The Emps. Where emotions come to life…
Schools and Organisations
For schools, trusts, local authorities and organisations. In this section you can find: the whole-school programme, CPD and training and free classroom resources.

The resources that that bring The Emps to life.
Plushie and crochet Emps, card decks, classroom sticker sets and printed resources, the physical versions of what's on the site.
We know a child can't hold an abstract emotion, but they can hold an Emp, and that is more powerful than it sounds.
These make an excellent addition to any calm corner, SEND room or ELSA/LM toolkit.
Whole School Emotional Literacy Programme
A whole school programme built by an Educational Psychologist with EP supervision for your staff built in.
Most schools already own a lot of wellbeing resources (posters, a feelings chart, a calm corner, a scheme somebody bought in 2019).
What schools often don’t have is a full programme with pick up and go stories, lesson plans and assemblies to bring emotional literacy to the whole school through one shared language.
This programme brings all of that to schools, gives them ready made tools, and language to support ALL staff to build emotional literacy and their own confidence in supporting children.
Designed by an Educational Psychologist and supervised by Educational Psychologists.
The characters, the gallery and the family resources stay free forever, for everyone. What a school pays for is the sequenced curriculum, the assemblies, the intervention structures, the staff training, the implementation support and half termly supervision from an Educational Psychologist.
You're not buying the Emps. You're buying the system built around them, the psychology behind them, the programme and Educational Psychology time that makes the real impact.
What’s included:
A sequenced curriculum, Reception to Year 6: which emotion, in which term, in which order
Assemblies with full scripts: ready for anyone on your staff to deliver
The Emp Detective Agency: structured 1:1 and small group programmes for anger, anxiety and emotional literacy
Stories for KS1 and KS2: written to be read and enjoyed as part of the curriculum.
Classroom cards, stickers and the physical Emps set
Staff training
Half termly EP supervision for Emp Champions.
The Emp Wheel and Class Check-In web apps
A site license, for everyone in your school, for the year
Become a founding school
The programme opens for founding schools in September 2027. Between now and then we will be refining the programme with our pilot schools and gathering the research evidence which we will share with you here on this page.
What founding schools get
The whole programme at a significantly reduced rate for three years
A say in what gets made: the materials get shaped around what actually works in your classrooms, not what works in theory
Half termly EP supervision from the start for Emp Champions.
Everything first, before anyone else sees it
What I ask in return
You take part in the evaluation, a few simple measures at the start, middle and end of the year
You let me write your school up as a case study
If you like it (which I am sure you will) you spread the word!
There will be very limited numbers for the founding schools.
The price. Founding places sit well below what the full programme will cost, and that rate is held for three years. If you would like to know more click below and let me know.
No obligation, and I won't chase you.
CPD, Supervision and Training.
Training, CPD and supervision
Separate from the whole-school programme, and available on their own for schools, trusts, local authorities and organisations working with children.
Training: a day or a twilight for your staff on The Emps: how to use them, how to sequence them, and how to run them in a classroom, group or individual sessions. It works particularly well with three or four schools together, so cluster and trust days are welcome.
CPD: Best delivered in person, this is a deeper dive into The Emps and emotional literacy. Useful for teams that want to explore the evidence behind current emotional literacy support in schools and develop their understanding of the psychology behind The Emps and how to use them to have the biggest impact of children, schools and families emotional literacy development.
Supervision: small groups, online, across the year, with an Educational Psychologist. Particularly for ELSAs, who are required to have supervision and very often can't get it.
I take on a small number of these each term, so it's a conversation rather than a booking form. Tell me roughly what you're after, how many people, what you're hoping they'll be able to do afterwards, and we will come back within three working days with what's possible and what it costs.

Crafting with The Emps
Crafting with The Emps is a simple and creative way to help children explore and talk about emotions.
When children create their own Emp, they are not just making a craft. They are bringing an emotion to life.
Through colour, shape, and personality, children can begin to recognise what emotions feel like and when they appear. A fluffy yellow Emp might represent worry. A spiky orange Emp might represent anger. A rainbow Emp might represent joy.
Creating an Emp gives children a playful and safe way to talk about emotions that can sometimes be hard to explain.
